The best first Evo is not always the highest-rated result
FC 27 continues to make Evolutions a major way to personalise Ultimate Team. EA says Evolutions will arrive at a lower, more intentional frequency, with more tailored positional and Attribute requirements.
That makes the starting card important. A slightly weaker result today can be more valuable if the player has useful positions, PlayStyles or a stat profile that leaves room for future upgrades.
What to check before committing
- Pace distribution: acceleration and sprint speed can matter more than the final face-card pace number.
- Positions: extra positions can make future squad building and Evo eligibility much easier.
- PlayStyles: avoid wasting upgrades on a card that already has overlapping strengths if another candidate fills a missing role.
- Weak foot and skill moves: these do not always improve automatically with every Evo.
- Body type and movement: two cards with similar stats can feel very different in-game.
- Future eligibility: extremely high individual stats can sometimes push a player outside later Evolution caps.
Why lower-rated cards can be exciting
Training Camp Evolutions are designed to give lower-rated players accessible entry points. That creates a reason to look beyond obvious gold cards and toward players with unusually strong pace, height, physicality or PlayStyles for their rating.
The fun part of Evolutions is building a card that becomes yours, not recreating the same template everyone else uses.
A simple rule for your first Evolution
If two players finish at a similar level, prefer the one you are more likely to keep using. Club links, favourite players and useful alternate positions can be worth more than one extra face stat.
