There is no single correct Coin balance
The amount you need depends on the squad you already own, the mode you play and which positions are actually holding the team back. A 50K upgrade can transform one squad and barely change another.
Use a budget as a limit, not a target. You do not become stronger just because every last Coin has been spent.

What changes around 100K
At 100K you have enough flexibility to think about the squad as a system rather than one isolated upgrade. You can improve the spine of the team, cover a weak area and still leave some Coins liquid.
Spend most on the positions that decide matches in your formation, use cheaper role players where the difference is smaller, and keep roughly 10–15% of the budget unspent.
At 250K, balance matters more than star power
A larger budget makes it tempting to chase one headline player. That can work if the rest of the squad is already stable. If not, spreading the budget across several meaningful upgrades usually gives you more flexibility.
Keep enough Coins back to react to rewards, Evolutions, SBCs and market movement rather than having to sell your best card every time the squad changes.

Which position is actually costing chances, possession or goals?
Choose the most you are willing to spend before searching the market.
Check whether a cheaper player gives you the same role, links or attributes.
Do not leave the club at zero unless the purchase is genuinely worth the loss of flexibility.
