What is Destined for Glory?
Destined for Glory is an FC 27 Ultimate Team campaign built around players expected to make a major impact during the 2026/27 football season. EA says the selection was shaped by community voting in the FC 27 Ratings Database.
The important part is that these are live items. Eligible Destined for Glory Player Items can receive upgrades over the season based on real-world domestic league performances.
How attacking-player upgrades work
For attacking and creative positions, EA uses combined goals and assists as the progression path. The published milestones include upgrades at 3, 6, 10 and 20 combined goals and assists.
The early milestones can improve Shooting and Passing or add a PlayStyle, while later milestones can add OVR upgrades. Always check the exact item and position path before paying a premium for upgrade potential.
Defensive players use different milestones
Defensive-position cards are not judged by the same attacking totals. EA lists clean-sheet milestones for positions such as full-back, centre-back and defensive midfield.
That means two Destined for Glory cards can have very different upgrade probabilities depending on role, club form, playing time and the type of milestone attached to the item.
Do not price the future upgrade as guaranteed
Live cards often attract a premium because buyers imagine the best-case final version. Real football performance is uncertain, and a player can miss matches, change role or simply fall short of a milestone.
Compare the card's current usefulness with ordinary alternatives first. Treat future upgrades as upside, not as something already earned.
What to watch each matchweek
- Whether the player started and completed enough minutes to influence the relevant performance metric.
- Goals and assists for attacking or creative upgrade paths.
- Clean sheets for defensive-position paths.
- How close the card is to its next published milestone.
- Whether the market price already assumes the upgrade will happen.
