What is FC 27 Future Stars?

EA launched its Future Stars campaign announcement on 9 October 2026. The promotion highlights emerging footballers in Ultimate Team, with Team 1 led by Rio Ngumoha. Unlike a simple one-off card release, eligible Future Stars items can improve based on their players' real-world domestic league performances.

Future Stars also brings back Academy Evolutions, alongside Live Events, SBCs and more content planned for the second week.

How do Future Stars live upgrades work?

EA tracks domestic league performances starting 9 October, but says live upgrades will be released on 3 February 2027. Starting appearances and position-specific achievements unlock different improvements. The requirements are lower for players in the NWSL, MLS, Liga MX and LPF than for other leagues.

• Other leagues: 4 starts = +1 OVR (maximum 86); 8 starts = another +1 OVR (maximum 87).
• Other leagues: attackers/midfielders need 7 combined goals and assists, or defenders/goalkeepers need 4 clean sheets, for a PlayStyle+ upgrade (maximum one).
• Other leagues: 10 combined goals and assists for attackers/midfielders, or 7 clean sheets for defenders/goalkeepers, unlock a five-star weak foot.
• NWSL, MLS, Liga MX and LPF: 2 starts = +1 OVR (maximum 86); 3 starts = another +1 OVR (maximum 87).
• Those four leagues: 2 combined goals and assists for attackers/midfielders, or 2 clean sheets for defenders/goalkeepers, unlock the PlayStyle+ upgrade.
• Those four leagues: 4 combined goals and assists for attackers/midfielders, or 3 clean sheets for defenders/goalkeepers, unlock a five-star weak foot.

Which positions count for upgrades?

• Attackers/midfielders: CM, CAM, LW, LM, RW, RM and ST.
• Defenders/goalkeepers: GK, RB, LB, CB and CDM.
• A player must feature in the match for a clean sheet to count.
• If an item already has one PlayStyle+, EA says it receives an additional base PlayStyle instead. If it already has five-star weak foot, the reward becomes five-star skill moves.

Future Stars Academy Evolutions: eligibility and steps

Choose an eligible striker (ST) or attacking midfielder (CAM) born on or after 9 October 2003. Enrol that item into the Future Stars Academy and progress through four Academy Evolutions. Check the in-game Evolution requirements before committing a player: eligibility depends on more than just age if other restrictions are shown.

EA also says a Future Stars Academy Objective will arrive during the promotion, offering rewards for playing with your Academy player.

Future Stars Team 1 and Rio Ngumoha

EA has confirmed Rio Ngumoha as the headline name for Team 1. The official announcement describes more emerging talents joining him, but avoid relying on leaked or unofficial full-team lists when deciding which items to target.

Before buying any promotional item, check its actual in-game attributes, eligible upgrade path and current market price rather than assuming every Future Stars card will reach the same rating.

What is coming in Week 2?

• PlayStyle+ Lab is planned for Future Stars Week 2.
• The first UEFA Star Performers eligible for PlayStyle+ upgrades are scheduled from 17 October.
• Week 1 features the 4-4-2 Back to Basics Exhibition Live Event.
• Week 2 is set to bring the second Ultimate Gauntlet and a new Flash Rush Event.
• Player SBCs, Puzzle SBCs and other rewards will be released throughout the promotion.

• 9 October 2026: official Future Stars announcement and domestic league performance tracking begins.
• 17 October 2026: first eligible UEFA Star Performers PlayStyle+ upgrades are scheduled to begin.
• 3 February 2027: EA's stated release date for Future Stars live upgrades.

Is it worth building around Future Stars?

The key trade-off is timing. Performance-based upgrades can make a promising item more attractive, but EA's stated release date is months away. If you need an immediate improvement to your starting XI, compare today's stats and price with alternatives rather than paying only for potential future boosts.

For Academy Evolutions, prioritise a player whose positions, chemistry links and playstyle fit your team. Check each Evolution's live requirements in-game before spending coins or submitting items.
