EA has responded to the biggest FC 27 gameplay complaints
EA's first Gameplay Developer Launch Update outlines several issues and balance topics being discussed after launch, including fullbacks breaking the defensive line, kick-off goals, interceptions, low driven shots and refereeing.
The key point is that most of these are being monitored or investigated. EA has not announced sweeping gameplay changes for all of them.
Fullbacks dropping too early is one of EA's biggest feedback topics
EA says one of the largest volumes of gameplay feedback has been about fullbacks dropping too early and breaking the defensive line.
The development team is investigating why it happens and looking at a potential fix if one proves necessary, but EA says it wants to continue investigating before making an adjustment that could significantly change defending.
EA is watching the rise in kick-off goals
Players have also been reporting goals directly after kick-off more often. EA says its early data has shown some movement here and it is monitoring whether that develops into a wider trend.
No kick-off nerf has been confirmed yet. For now, this belongs in the monitoring category rather than the confirmed-fix category.
Lower-defending players may be intercepting too well
EA says it wants manual defenders who correctly occupy passing lanes to be rewarded. However, it is monitoring whether players with lower defensive attributes are currently too effective at making interceptions normally associated with stronger defenders.
That distinction matters because EA is not saying manual interceptions are broadly overpowered; it is specifically watching how effective lower-defending items can be.
Low driven shots are being monitored, not nerfed yet
Low driven shots, particularly attempts aimed toward the near post, are another community talking point. EA says it is generally happy with the current shooting and goalkeeping balance but will continue monitoring for outliers.
So despite discussion around low driven shots, there is no confirmed nerf in this developer update.
Referee and foul decisions are actively being investigated
The clearest area EA says it is actively working on is fouls. The team has received reports of referees producing the wrong outcome following certain challenges and is investigating those situations.
EA did not give a release date for a referee fix, so players should wait for future patch notes before assuming a change has gone live.
EA says FC 27 will not be changed as aggressively early on
One of the most important parts of the update is EA's wider approach to patches. The team says it heard feedback that previous games changed too much early in the cycle and intends to be more measured with core gameplay changes.
That means appearing in EA's monitoring list does not automatically mean a nerf or buff is coming. EA says it wants stronger evidence from both community feedback and gameplay data before making major changes.
What FC 27 players should watch next
- Whether EA confirms a defensive-line or fullback positioning adjustment.
- Whether kick-off goals become a confirmed balance issue rather than something simply being monitored.
- Any change to interception effectiveness for low-defending players.
- Future patch notes addressing incorrect referee outcomes.
- The upcoming Gameplay-specific Q&A announced by EA.
